How to Download Windows 10 and Upgrade Your PC?

Without much ado, I want to present the steps down below. So here we go.

N.B.- As the title suggests, this article features the method to upgrade your Windows PC. You can use this method even to upgrade a Windows 10 PC of older builds.

Step 1: First, you want to ensure your computer is compatible to installing Windows 10. For that, just check the system requirements from the official Microsoft page. Once you see a green signal there, you can proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Here we are not going to download the files into a removable media. All we do is loading the files directly into the local storage to upgrade the operating system. If you want to get the files separately in a drive for another PC, you can find the method down below at the end of this article.

Visit this page and, download the media creation tool. It’s a lightweight executable file.

Step 3: Once the quick download finishes, don’t hesitate to open the file to kick start the installation procedures.

Step 4: As you open the media creation tool, you will be given two choices; Upgrade this PC and Create installation media for another PC. You need to settle down for the first one as upgrading the current PC is your aim. The second option is intended to installing the OS on another computer about which you will read at the end of this article.

Step 5: You have to be really patient for the files are pretty heavy. Even for a high speed internet connection, the whole process of downloading may take up to an hour or so.

Once the initial round of massive downloading finishes, it go through a check-up and downloads some more files. So, you have to wait throughout the process.

On completion, you will be asked to Accept to the terms and conditions.

Step 6: Then press Install button. The installation wizard needs at least 15 minutes to extract the downloaded files and copy them to the appropriate locations.

During the process, your computer will be rebooted several times. So, don’t worry about the screen being flashed a few times.

Step 7: On finishing the whole process, what you see is the login screen. There will be no different in your old login name. Hit Next at this step without even a slight moment of hesitation.

Step 8: On the next screen, you should choose Use express settings. Every single setting you go with during the installation procedure can be changed later.

Step 9: You don’t have to do anything technical on the next screen as it is the mere presentation of the new apps you get on the latest operating system. Simply go with Next here as well.

Step 10: Now you get the new login screen of Windows 10. All you have to do is just provide the password and press Enter.

Running for the first time, Windows will take a couple of minutes to set everything on the desktop.

And then, voila! You now have Windows 10 on your PC.

How to Create a Windows 10 USB Drive?

An operating system’s setup loaded into a USB drive is always useful as the upgrade via media creation tool can’t be done with a PC of wrecked OS.

Here in this section, you are going to read how to create a Windows 10 USB drive.

Step 1: Just download the tool and launch it. Then, go with the second option that is to Create installation media for another PC.

Step 2: You need to select the language, edition and architecture at this step. I recommend you must go with 64 bits architecture because it utilizes the full power of your processor.

Step 3: After you select the three options given above, you need to plug your USB drive into the computer and wait a few seconds to get it detected. Finally, choose USB drive and hit Next.

N.B. – In case you want to load the files into a DVD, you can go with the second option.

Step 4: As the tool loads the files directly into the drive from the Microsoft server, you should wait patiently to get it done. I have already told you the fact that the setup files are too heavy to be downloaded at once.

Step 5: When the downloading finishes, you will see Your USB flash drive is ready on the screen. Just hit Finish there. That’s it.

You can use the drive whenever you want to install Windows 10 on any computer. But you should bear in mind that the editions of the old Windows and the new one must match for free upgrading. If it’s not the case, the wizard will ask for a product key which you get only by purchasing a license.
