The company says it is experimenting with new ways of listing tweets different from the chronological order of arrangement users have become used to over the years.

While the experiment is enjoying mixed reactions from users, observers say it may not be unconnected with a slow user growth on the social media platform.

Some users who were hitherto used to the chronological order had their tweets arranged in order of relevance.

Confirming the experiment, Twitter spokesperson, Liina Potter, who spoke to Daily Mail said the changes affected some users, but did not state the exact number.

Potter said: “Yes, this is an experiment. We’re continuing to explore ways to surface the best content for people using Twitter.”

This is just one of many changes that have been experimented or adopted by the social media platform this year, including the “hearts” for “stars” like button change and the introduction of the twitter poll button.
