The recently released desktop app, WebApp extension, which was released in 2015, and the WhatsApp application on your phone are the same. This is not possible from your mobile device.

They both allow you to utilize the keyboard shortcuts and desktop notifications. Additionally, the desktop app is responsive and fast. This may not be a big difference since even the mobile device app is also fast, especially when sending a standard text. However, when sending a bigger file, either a video or an image, are considered to be to be faster.

Another difference on the interface between the two. When using the WhatsApp on your mobile device, the screen is smaller and sometimes glaring at it may be tiresome. When using the desktop app, the viewing interface changes completely. The interface is bigger, the resolution is better and typing a message is faster and improved. You will not have to struggle with your small screen, especially if you have poor eyesight. Additionally, chatting in a group now becomes easier. You can now easily track groups’ conversations without losing track of where you started.

The release of WhatsApp desktop app opens up a new frontier of use of WhatsApp, and this is in the business sector. Initially, WhatsApp use in business was very minimal. Very few businesses had adopted WhatsApp as their main messaging platform.

This could have been contributed by the app being primarily for use in mobile devices. Later, after the release of the WebApp, using the app on a PC made it a bit easier to use the platform.

This is because messaging became easier when typing on a bigger screen and reading on bigger screen. Therefore, with the release of the desktop app, the use of WhatsApp in business communication may take a whole new turn. The new desktop app is friendlier and easy to use compared to the mobile device app, in a business environment.

The released desktop app can do everything the mobile device application can do. However, the appearance has changed a bit. This affects the ease of use and navigation when using the app. On the mobile device, the arrangement is based on the phone default positions of the buttons. On the desktop app, this is different.

For example, when you open an individual chat, you can have three things appearing on the screen; the chat, the contact info, and the chat list. This makes navigation of the desktop app easier when you get used to it, but at the first moment, you may find it confusing.

However, there is a challenge with the desktop app during installation. The process of verification and scanning the QR code can be tedious when doing it for the same time. Luckily when you are logged in, it is simple.

In conclusion, WhatsApp desktop app can perform all that the mobile device based app can do. You can send and receive messages and images from your PC. The syncing feature means everything, which is on your mobile device WhatsApp, shall be found on your desktop app. There are benefits, which the desktop app, brings on board. They include a bigger keyboard, bigger screen, and improved speed.
